Lise Minzes was born in Springfield, Virginia and lived her formative years in video games and on the wild west of 90s and early 2000s internet. As a teenager, she moved to a community that resided in the middle of nowhere, where all she had was her computer, a pirated version of Photoshop, her various film cameras, and a dream to be a fashion photographer. She has always been an observer of landscapes, from watching her 1.5 hour commute out of the window of a train when she worked in D.C., to the Midwestern landscapes that merged prairie and residing in poor and working class areas where trash began to tell a story.
She seeks to invite people into the landscapes she discovers on her daily walks, hidden corners of the Internet full of niche interests rarely encountered in the mainstream, and create their own ways of storytelling from what they discover from their own interactions with these landscapes.
Currently, she resides in Raleigh, NC where she is focusing on merging her queer identity, interests and hobbies, and daydreams all into one. She hopes to begin creating spaces full of postmodern antiques as a way to create a sense of ease and a love for odd forms of art. She is an Aide for kids with special needs, helping foster kids love for creativity, daydreaming, imagination, and their unique gifts to the world. In her free time, Lise writes short stories, organizes everything in her home for both practical and aesthetic reasons, and paints still life.
